Sentinel Closes Until Further Notice

By March 17, 2020 No Comments

Dear friends & neighbours.

We have made the difficult decision to close our doors to the public until further notice. We join with retreat centres around the world, as well as with area businesses and organizations who, like us, have reached the conclusion that at this time the most responsible thing we can do, individually and collectively, is socially isolate. Here is an excellent article by Scott Warner that explains why this is so important. It’s the math!

Here is our formal statement.

A Message from The Sentinel

Our centres are places of refuge and healing, connection and support, here to serve a shift in world values. Let’s visualize healing golden light and love over all beings everywhere on the beautiful planet we call home and continue to share resources to help navigate these times.

Loving greetings friends, neighbours, Sentinel leaders, guests, and esteemed colleagues.

After much thought and discussion, we have decided to close The Sentinel, effective March 17, until further notice. Our decision is made based on our interpretation of the latest news and pronouncements from BC, Canadian, and international health professionals. In the end, it was our commitment to the health and wellbeing of Sentinel attendees and leaders, our remarkable staff, and the health of those in our region and beyond that made this an inevitable choice.

Based on all we have learned to-date from the experience of our fellow beings in other parts of our blessed planet, as our sister organization on the far shore of Kootenay Lake, Yasodhara Ashram, put it recently, “the message right now is clear: stay close to home if you can for the greater good of all.” We agree we all need to do what we can to flatten the curve of the virus’ spread. That means eschewing travel and physical gatherings if at all possible.

We concur.

As everything about the current situation is evolving rapidly, we will stay in close communication with you, and will update you as the situation changes.

For those of you disappointed because the workshop or event you were looking forward to attending has been cancelled, we encourage you to contact us to discuss options. Please email us, at info@sentinelbc.ca

Let us embrace this moment as a singular opportunity to think and act as if we truly understand how interconnected we all are. Our thoughts and actions have always had a profound impact on others — our current situation is a cosmic reminder of that essential truth.

Be well.

In health and love,

The Sentinel Team
