Dr. Devon Christie MD completed her Honours Bachelor of Health Science and Doctorate of Medicine degrees at McMaster University, and postgraduate residency in Rural Family Medicine at UBC. Dr. Christie is also an Institute for Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner (IFMCP); her Vancouver practice at Connect Health, and her Nelson practice at RISE BC Wellness, reflect this focus.
At RISE BC Wellness, Dr Christie also has a focus in interventional pain management. She is also a yoga instructor and in 2012 she obtained certification through the World Shamanic Yoga Institute in a 4-week residential training in Cuzco, Peru.
In 2017 she became a Certified Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Teacher through UC San Diego Centre for Mindfulness, and in May 2015 obtained certification through UMass Medical School Center for Mindfulness to teach the Interpersonal Mindfulness Program (IMP).
Devon is also a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor with a focus in Relational Somatic Therapy (body- focused psychotherapy for trauma resolution) in order to better serve the high percentage of her patients who have suffered traumatic experiences. In 2014/2015 Devon co-facilitated 2, 10-day retreats with Dr. Gabor Maté incorporating Vegitalismo shamanism and deep group process integration, and continues to facilitate retreats of this nature with her husband, Sasha Cuff.
Devon is a long-time advisory board member to MAPS (Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies) Canada, and is a research therapist for MAPS’ upcoming Vancouver Phase 3 study investigating MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for treatment refractory post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Devon is passionate about weaving world healing traditions, plant medicines and spirituality into her quest to assist others to live their fullest, happiest, most authentic lives.
